- Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema
- Work with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Conduct pulmonary function screenings and comprehensive pulmonary function tests using spirometry equipment
- Provide patient instructions for pulmonary function tests
- Educate patients on respiratory equipment, inhalers, nebulizers, and medications such as albuterol
- Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations
- Conduct pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic evaluations
- Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort
- Communicate with pulmonologists and healthcare team members
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow respiratory therapy safety protocols
Requirements
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and/or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) preferred
- AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted
- Must be available on occasional weekdays; no weekends
- Experience performing spirometry testing
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of respiratory equipment and medications
