Qualifications

  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or RT/RRT.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat patients with asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop treatment plans.
  • Perform spirometry and pulmonary function tests.
  • Provide instructions for pulmonary tests to patients.
  • Educate patients on inhalers, nebulizers, and albuterol.
  • Administer albuterol after PFTs.
  • Perform pre- and post-test evaluations.
  • Monitor progress, equipment function, and comfort.
  • Communicate with pulmonologists and care team.
  • Maintain safe, clean environment and safety protocols.

Job description

  • Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, and emphysema
  • Work with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Conduct pulmonary function screenings and comprehensive pulmonary function tests using spirometry equipment
  • Provide patient instructions for pulmonary function tests
  • Educate patients on respiratory equipment, inhalers, nebulizers, and medications such as albuterol
  • Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations
  • Conduct pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic evaluations
  • Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort
  • Communicate with pulmonologists and healthcare team members
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow respiratory therapy safety protocols
Requirements
  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and/or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) preferred
  • AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted
  • Must be available on occasional weekdays; no weekends
  • Experience performing spirometry testing
  • Strong communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of respiratory equipment and medications
