Job summary

Jobtailor in Alaska seeks a Respiratory Therapist to assess, monitor, and treat patients with asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis and emphysema, performing spirometry and PFTs, and educating patients on inhalers and medications.

You will collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans, administer albuterol after tests, and support patient safety while traveling to various Alaska communities.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or RRT.
• NBRC certification and/or CPFT preferred.
• AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted.
• Must be available on occasional weekdays; no weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions.
• Work with physicians, nurses, pulmonologists, and others to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Conduct spirometry and comprehensive pulmonary function tests.
• Provide instructions for pulmonary function tests to patients.
• Educate patients on respiratory equipment and medications such as albuterol.
• Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations.
• Conduct pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other evaluations.
• Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort.
• Communicate with team members as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow patient-safety protocols.
• Travel occasionally to Alaska communities.

• Work with physicians, nurses, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Conduct spirometry and comprehensive pulmonary function tests
• Provide patient instructions for pulmonary function tests
• Educate patients on respiratory equipment, inhalers, nebulizers, and medications such as albuterol
• Administer albuterol after pulmonary function examinations
• Conduct pre- and post-pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic evaluations
• Monitor patient progress, equipment functionality, and patient comfort

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and/or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) preferred
• AARC Office Spirometry Certificate accepted
• Must be available on occasional weekdays; no weekends
• Experience performing spirometry testing
• Strong communication and patient care skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of respiratory equipment and medications
