Respiratory Therapist – Full-Time, Nights

Location: Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY

Salary Range: $41.50 - $53.96/hour

Schedule: 6:30 PM – 7:30 AM | 12.5-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend

Job Summary

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Pulmonary Medicine team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. In this role, you will set up, operate, and evaluate routine and advanced life support equipment to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases. You'll provide care for patients across a wide range of ages—from neonates to geriatric adults—in accordance with physician orders, department policies, and clinical best practices.

This position reports to the Director of Cardio-Respiratory Care Services and operates under the guidance of the Respiratory Care Manager, Supervisor, and Clinical Coordinator.

Responsibilities Include

• Administering respiratory therapy treatments and diagnostic tests
• Operating and maintaining ventilators and other life-support systems
• Assessing patient needs and responding appropriately in emergent situations
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
• Delivering age-appropriate care based on unit and department guidelines

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an AMA-accredited School of Respiratory Care
• Registry eligible or credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Experience

• New graduate respiratory therapists are welcome to apply
• Prefer 1+ year of clinical experience across all areas of respiratory care

Licensure & Certifications

• Current New York State license or limited permit to practice respiratory care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Job Type: Full-Time
• FTE: 0.94 (37.5 hours per week)
• Work Schedule: 12.5-hour night shifts, including every other weekend
• Department: Pulmonary Medicine
• Union/Grade: U9
• Exempt: No
