Job summary

UTMB Health Galveston seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner – Registered for Casual up to 19 hours per week in Gal Respiratory Care Services. Requires an Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited program.

RRT credential from NBRC and Texas licensure, with BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS/NRP preferred where applicable. You will deliver comprehensive respiratory care across neonatal to geriatric patients, manage ventilation and airway care, and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program.
• No minimum experience required.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• PALS and/or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred as assigned clinical area.

Responsibilities

• Assess the respiratory care needs of patients.
• Administer, monitor, and wean mechanical ventilation; adjust based on clinical data.
• Set up and maintains respiratory equipment.
• Perform blood gas analysis and respiratory function tests.
• Participate in patient rounds and collaborate with care teams.
• Provide patient/family respiratory care education and instructions.
• Assist in training students and new staff.
• Adhere to AIDET guidelines and maintain documentation.
• May float to other units/campuses for complex procedures.
