Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX is seeking a Sr. Respiratory Care Practitioner - Registered for night shifts. Requires an RRT with TX licensure and 3 years in respiratory care, including 2 in critical care, or 5 years with 3 in critical care. A specialty credential is required within 6 months and BLS/ACLS are current.

The incumbent will provide advanced respiratory care, act as a preceptor, and manage emergencies while maintaining CAP compliance and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or healthcare-related specialty with 3 years of experience including 2 years in critical care.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and NBRC credentials; Texas RCP licensure.
• Must hold one specialty credential (e.g., RRT-ACCS, NPS, RPFT, RPSGT, LNFA) or obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory care needs and provide basic and specialty care.
• Perform and supervise pulmonary function testing and related assessments.
• Provide Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonary services as needed.
• Serve as preceptor for new staff and students; contribute to training.
• Maintain equipment, participate in CAP surveys, and ensure protocol adherence.
