Description:

Seeking a Registered Professional Forester to work as a Vegetation Management Inspector. This position is suitable for entry-level or experienced forestry professionals with backgrounds in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation, or related fields.

The RPF will collaborate with senior leaders and business development managers to support proposals and new projects requiring RPF certification. The role involves up to 75% travel during the work week, including oversight stays. When not engaged in RPF work, the candidate will support PG&E’s electric transmission & distribution vegetation programs as an VMI.

Vegetation Management Inspectors perform inspections, audits, monitor contractor performance, and coordinate activities of tree clearance crews. They act as liaisons between clients, crews, and customers. Note: This role involves project-based travel.

Requirements:
  • Must be a Licensed Registered Professional Forester

Note: This position is safety-sensitive.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform circuit patrols according to the annual VM plan and standards.
  • Identify and prescribe tree work along PG&E rights-of-way, document inspections.
  • Ensure inspections meet applicable standards.
  • Notify property owners and obtain necessary permissions for tree work.
  • Support new business and reconstruction work requests.
  • Verify work completion and quality through inspections.
  • Investigate and document outages related to trees, attend outage meetings.
  • Manage VM tags, track work, and notify customers for non-routine locations.
  • Support emergency responses as directed.
  • Complete tasks independently as assigned.
  • Oversee vegetation projects, including field assessments and work.
  • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Represent PG&E in customer relations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, communities, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with permits and environmental regulations.
  • Proficient in electronic documentation and reporting.
Basic Responsibilities:
  • Patrol circuits, prescribe work, and ensure compliance.
  • Assess trees for hazards and determine trimming or removal needs.
  • Manage notifications, cases, and permits, documenting in databases.
  • Support emergency response and maintain communication with PG&E personnel, agencies, and customers.
  • Exemplify ACRT’s Guiding Principles.
Equipment, Environmental, and Safety Requirements:
  • Operate vehicles and forestry equipment.
  • Walk on uneven terrain, in various weather conditions.
  • Use safety gear and tools.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Licensed Registered Professional Forester.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
  • At least one year of related arboricultural experience, ISA certification, or relevant college degree with PG&E approval.

Residence within 50 miles of Grass Valley, CA is required.
