Position Summary:
The OT - Occupational Therapist provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements:
- NBCOT certification upon hire; renewal is optional.
- Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT).
- Currently registered/licensed in the applicable state; must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- Preferred: One (1) year experience in post-acute care or related setting.
- CPR certification upon hire or during orientation; must remain current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Participate in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
- Coordinate with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs.
- Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care functions.
- Implement and interpret department programs, goals, policies, and procedures.
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional relationships with all associates and vendors.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
- Follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Adhere to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete mandatory compliance training.
Essential Functions:
- Follow occupational treatment plans for patients, including activities of daily living.
- Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, and timely goals.
- Oversee and evaluate care provided by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students.
- Chart appropriately and timely.
- Use therapy software accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude.
- Assist in patient evacuation when necessary.
- Maintain dependable, regular attendance.
- Use reasoning skills and good judgment.
- Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking during work hours.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
