Job summary

Mission Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the inpatient wound care department. The Wound Care RN will assess wounds, perform dressing changes, and implement HAPI prevention per physician orders, collaborating with physicians and bedside staff to uphold evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities include leading monthly wound care meetings, adapting to corporate policies, and communicating patient condition changes to the team.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the state.
• BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
• Previous wound care knowledge and/or experience preferred (1 year).
• Wound care certification within first year of hire.
• Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) or (WCC) Board Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care in the inpatient wound care department.

• Implement offloading and HAPI prevention orders; adapt to policy changes.
• Deliver ongoing education to bedside staff on wound care best practices.
• Establish and sustain monthly wound care committee meetings with facility participants.
• Collaborate with all departments to ensure evidence-based wound care practices.
• Communicate changes in patient treatment and condition to physicians, charge nurse and coworkers; report HAPI occurrences to leadership; participate in team development calls.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse provides direct care in the inpatient wound care department . The Wound Care RN assesses the skin of patients in the facility, monitors the status of wounds, implements specialized dressing change recommendations based on physician orders and clinical expertise, implements offloading and HAPI prevention orders, adapts to changing policy and procedures according to corporate policy. The Wound Care RN provides ongoing evidence based on relevant education to all facility bedside staff related to HAPI prevention, dressing changes, and care of skin. The Wound Care RN will establish and maintain monthly wound care committee meetings which will include relevant participants from their facility. The wound care RN will collaborate respectfully with all departments to create effective wound care practices based on evidence based best practice guidelines and corporate policies. Communicate with physicians / charge nurse / co – workers, as appropriate regarding changes in the patient’s treatment, clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies. The Wound Care RN will report HAPI occurrence to leadership in a timely manner and has the ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Participate in team development calls and meetings.
