Job summary

CoxHealth is seeking a Postpartum Nurse to educate and assist new mothers and care for newborns during the postpartum period at CoxHealth South in Springfield, MO. The role supports families during a critical transition and requires strong communication and clinical skills.

The position emphasizes leadership within a multidisciplinary team, with responsibilities spanning patient education, infant care, and coordination of care across shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• NRP must be obtained within one year of hire.
• Missouri RN licensure required/active.

Responsibilities

• Educate and assist the new mother with physical and emotional needs postpartum.
• Care for the infant and educate mothers about newborn care during the postpartum period.
• Demonstrate effective leadership abilities within the care team and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth workflow.
