Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Weekender Medical Surgical unit. The Weekender program requires two 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM Friday to 7:00 AM Monday, with compensation at 1.5x the regular hourly rate for those shifts.

Benefits include full-time medical and dental coverage; the 26-bed unit cares for general surgical/medical patients and serves as overflow for another unit. A BSN or MN is required, with ACLS/PALS likely per unit standards.

Qualifications

Knowledge of nursing process (Required proficiency).
Uses a wide variety of equipment to meet patient needs (e.g., stethoscopes, thermometers, monitors).
RN license valid in Ohio or Multi-State Compact (Required Upon Hire).
BLS (Required Upon Hire).
ACLS/PALS may be required per unit standards.

Weekender Program – Salary and Schedule Overview

Individuals hired for a Weekender position are required to work two (2) 12-hour shifts between 7:00 PM Friday and 7:00 AM Monday. In return for this commitment, Weekenders will be compensated at 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for these shifts. Individuals in Weekender roles qualify for full-time medical and dental benefits, whereas eligibility for all other benefits is at part-time levels.

7 Surgical is a 26 bed General Surgical/Medical floor that care for general surgery patients, as well as overflow from our sister 2 Surgical floor

A Brief Overview

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Education

(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required) or
(MN) Master in Nursing (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
