Job summary

Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections - Corrections Services is seeking an RN Supervisor A to lead nursing operations in a 64-bed Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU) for incarcerated individuals with complex health needs. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead nursing operations in the 64-bed Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU).
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process and supervise the care of inmates.
• Administer medications and treatments in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Conduct nursing assessments and communicate with providers to ensure timely dispositions.
• Develop and review care plans and ensure orders are transmitted to relevant units.

Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and clinically skilled RN Supervisor A to lead nursing operations within our 64-bed Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU), a Level 1 care facility providing essential medical services to incarcerated individuals with complex health needs. Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:

• Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
• A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
• A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
• A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties:

• Assumes shift responsibility for patient assignments and care of patients for assigned unit.
• Provides nursing care and utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the provision of direct patient care to Inmates.
• Administers medications and treatments in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Conducts nursing assessments via nursing rounds and communicates with the provider regarding the patient's condition to ensure a timely and accurate disposition.
• Initiates and reviews nursing plan of care for all patients and ensures that treatments and therapies specified in the plans are carried out.
• Receives health care practitioner's instructions regarding patient care and ensure that orders are transmitted to other units as needed.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $39.12 per hour.

This position also offers premium pay: A rate of $5.00 per hourfor each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
