THE POSITION

Are you ready to guide nursing services as a Registered Nurse Supervisor with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs? DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on supervising nursing care, guiding staff, and ensuring safe and accurate health services for residents in a veterans home. You will oversee daily care, maintain compliance, and support quality improvement efforts. As a Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Nursing Supervision: Mentor nurses in daily treatments, observations, and resident care activities
• Staff Coordination: Assign personnel, review time records, and maintain required nursing care hours
• Care Monitoring: Check documentation, care plans, and assessments for accuracy and compliance
• Quality Oversight: Evaluate data, identify safety concerns, and recommend improvements to procedures
• Leadership Duties: Interview, coach, evaluate, and support staff to meet facility expectations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 80 hours biweekly
• Work hours are 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM) and include working every other weekend and a 30-minute lunch. Training will be conducted on the day shift.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
