Position Summary

The Medical/Surgical Department Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing comprehensive, goal-oriented care to patients from infancy through geriatrics, as directed by physician orders.

Responsibilities include age-specific patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, implementation of interventions, and evaluation of treatment outcomes. The RN provides physical and psychological support to patients and their families, including patient education and discharge planning throughout the hospitalization.

The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, prioritize workload, and achieve positive patient outcomes. The RN promotes a cohesive work environment, demonstrates professionalism in all interactions, and maintains competency through ongoing education and evidence-based nursing practice.

Qualifications

Education Required

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure Required

• Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License or qualifying multistate licensure.

Certifications Required

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or completion within three (3) months of hire.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or completion within one (1) year of orientation completion.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification or completion within one (1) year of orientation completion.
