The role includes clinical supervision on a shift basis, coordinating admissions and transfers, and staffing the next shift with the director and managers. It also serves as a resource and role model for staff with performance evaluations input.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current Texas State RN license required.
• Active BLS on hire; BLS from AHA required within 60 days.
• ACLS/TNCC/PALS/NRP/STABLE as applicable for department.

Responsibilities

• Serve on the departmental leadership team providing clinical supervision on a shift basis.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers; unit patient flow coordination.
• Coordinate unit staffing for next shift with leadership; supervise staff performance.
• Provide supervision input into staff evaluations and reviews.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

This position is part of the departmental leadership team that provides clinical supervision on a shift basis including: coordination and assignment of patient care; functions as a unit patient flow coordinator, facilitating admissions, discharges and transfers; coordinates unit staffing for next shift with the Director/Clinical Manager, Coordinator and/or House Officer; serves as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for the staff; provides supervisory input into department staff evaluations and performance reviews. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing or advanced degree in a related field

Experience:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year in an equivalent unit

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 4 years in an equivalent unit

Certifications:

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: National Specialty Certification

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):

Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.

ACLS/TNCC, PALS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E., Fetal Monitoring, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are required depending on department hired. *See applicable STAFF RN job description for requirements and grace periods.
