Job summary

The State of Missouri, through the Missouri Veterans Home, is seeking a Registered Nurse - Shift Supervisor to lead nursing staff and ensure high-quality care for veterans. The role emphasizes teamwork, clinical oversight, and timely communication with the unit manager.

With licensure in Missouri and at least two years of RN experience, you will supervise rounds, document in the EMR, administer medications, and mentor staff while maintaining patient safety and dignity.

• Missouri RN license in good standing.
• At least 2 years of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Make rounds on assigned shift to direct and evaluate nursing services and monitor workflow.
• Communicate with unit manager about data and unit issues.
• Identify high-risk Veterans and escalate to staff.
• Document accurately in EMR.
• Provide holistic care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Supervise, recruit, retain, and mentor nursing staff.

Hourly Pay

• $46.18 day shift
• $50.34 evening and night shift

Examples Of Work

• Make rounds on assigned shift in order to direct and evaluate nursing services, monitor work flow, and redefine priorities as needed
• Communicate with the unit manager regarding data collected and pertinent issues related to each unit
• Identify Veterans who are high risk for negative outcomes and communicate to staff at all levels
• Document accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Communicate and participate with the interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation when indicated
• Oversee the supervision, recruitment, retention, performance management, discipline, clinical instruction, and feedback to the nursing staff
• Give medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician
• Assist the nursing team with Veteran care as needed, which may include lifting

Qualifications

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Missouri – in good standing
• 2+ years of experience as a registered nurse
