Job summary

Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our compassionate team serving veterans. The role offers day, evening, and night shifts with pay commensurate with experience, and the opportunity to deliver high-quality nursing care in a respectful environment.

You will assess, plan, and administer medications, document care in the EMR, and collaborate with physicians to support residents in daily activities.

• Recent nursing graduates may start as graduate nurses per MO Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift.
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plans per protocol.
• Rounds with physician and communicate patient status.
• Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately.
• Document nursing assessments and interventions in EMR.
• Administer medications and monitor patient outcomes.
• Assist veterans with transfers, mobility, and daily activities.
• Support admission and discharge processes.

Pay:

• Day shift: $38.92 - $41.80/hour
• Evening and night shift: $42.42 - $45.56/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience

Examples of Work:

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift on assigned unit
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plan according to healthcare protocol
• Make rounds with the physician, inform of status of patients and receive instructions for care and treatment
• Transcribe and implement physician’s orders accurately
• Document accurately all nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in electronic medical record (EMR)
• Give medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician accurately with follow-up observations
• Assist Veteran with various needs such as transferring, positioning, transporting, feeding, promoting elimination, toileting, bathing and showering, etc.
• Assist Veteran upon admission and/or discharge

Qualifications:

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse – in good standing; or
• A recent graduate of an accredited nursing program may practice as a graduate nurse until results of first licensure examination are received or until 90 days after graduation, whichever occurs first, as allowed by the Missouri Board of Nursing
