Job summary

The Missouri Veterans Home is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses to join our mission-driven team caring for our state's veterans. Expect hourly pay with distinct day, evening, and night shift ranges, plus a $1.50/hour weekend differential and pay commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include assessing Veterans, planning care, implementing MDS and care plans, and documenting care in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Licensed in Missouri as RN or LPN, in good standing.
• Graduate nurse may practice until licensure results are received (per Missouri Board).

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift.
• Assess Veterans' needs and ensure services meet them.
• Implement MDS and care plans per healthcare protocol.
• Make rounds with physician and communicate status and orders.
• Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in EMR.
• Administer medications and treatments with follow-up observations.
• Assist Veterans with transfers, positioning, feeding, hygiene, and activities.
• Assist Veterans on admission and discharge; participate in orientation.

LPN Hourly Pay:

• Day shift: $29.30 - $31.28/hour
• Evening and night shift: $31.30 - $33.28/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience
• Additional $1.50/hour weekend shift differential available

RN Hourly Pay:

• Day shift: $38.92 - $41.80/hour
• Evening and night shift: $42.42 - $45.56/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience

EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift on assigned unit
• Assess needs of Veterans and ensures services are consistent with needs
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plan according to healthcare protocol
• Make rounds with the physician, inform of status of patients and receive instructions for care and treatment
• Transcribe and implement physician’s orders accurately
• Document accurately all nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in electronic medical record (EMR)
• Give medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician accurately with follow-up observations
• Assist Veteran with various needs such as transferring, positioning, transporting, feeding, promoting elimination, toileting, bathing and showering, etc.
• Assist Veteran upon admission and/or discharge
• Participate in orientation of unit staff

QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri, in good standing, or
• A recent graduate of an accredited nursing program may practice as a graduate nurse until results of first licensure examination are received or until 90 days after graduation, whichever occurs first, as allowed by the Missouri Board of Nursing
