Job summary

Missouri Veterans Commission is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to serve our Veterans at the Missouri Veterans Home. The role focuses on compassionate, quality care across day, evening, and night shifts, with weekend differentials available and strong teamwork on patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri, in good standing.
• Graduate nurse may practice temporarily until first licensure results are received or 90 days after graduation, per Missouri Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on the assigned shift.
• Assess Veterans needs and ensure services align with those needs.
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plans according to healthcare protocol.
• Make rounds with the physician and relay patient status and instructions.
• Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in EMR.

LPN Hourly Pay:

• Day shift: $29.30 - $31.28/hour
• Evening and night shift: $31.30 - $33.28/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience
• Additional $1.50/hour weekend shift differential available

RN Hourly Pay:

• Day shift: $38.92 - $41.80/hour
• Evening and night shift: $42.42 - $45.56/hour
• Pay commensurate with experience

EXAMPLES OF WORK

• Assess, organize, and plan staff duties on assigned shift on assigned unit
• Assess needs of Veterans and ensures services are consistent with needs
• Implement Veteran MDS and care plan according to healthcare protocol
• Make rounds with the physician, inform of status of patients and receive instructions for care and treatment
• Transcribe and implement physician’s orders accurately
• Document accurately all nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations in electronic medical record (EMR)
• Give medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician accurately with follow-up observations
• Assist Veteran with various needs such as transferring, positioning, transporting, feeding, promoting elimination, toileting, bathing and showering, etc.
• Assist Veteran upon admission and/or discharge
• Participate in orientation of unit staff

QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri, in good standing, or
• A recent graduate of an accredited nursing program may practice as a graduate nurse until results of first licensure examination are received or until 90 days after graduation, whichever occurs first, as allowed by the Missouri Board of Nursing
