State Hospital West (SHW) in Nampa is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Sr to serve as the hospital’s Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse. This position is responsible for leading hospital-wide infection prevention and control activities, supporting employee health initiatives, monitoring healthcare-associated infections, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse works collaboratively with nursing, medical staff, pharmacy, administration, and other departments to identify infection risks, implement prevention strategies, provide staff education, and support continuous quality improvement. The position also plays a lead role in the Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP) and the development and evaluation of the hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control Plan and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA).

Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC®) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC®), or the ability to obtain certification within three years of hire, is required.

This position is not eligible for telework.

  • Lead hospital-wide infection prevention and control activities, ensuring compliance with TJC, CDC, OSHA, CMS, and public health requirements.
  • Conduct infection surveillance, monitor trends and risks, and implement appropriate interventions to prevent and control infections.
  • Coordinate Employee Health activities, including employee screenings, vaccinations, illness and exposure assessments, and return-to-work recommendations.
  • Ensure timely reporting of communicable diseases and other reportable conditions to appropriate health authorities.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the Infection Prevention and Control Plan, ICRA, and related quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the Antibiotic Stewardship Program by monitoring antibiotic use, evaluating outcomes, and providing education on appropriate use.
  • Prepare and present infection prevention data, reports, and recommendations to leadership committees, and clinical staff.
  • Provide infection prevention and employee health education and consultation to staff, while collaborating with leadership, healthcare providers, and public health partners to address infection risks and improve practices.
