Job summary

UP Health System - Portage is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Urology Clinic. This full-time position (1.0 FTE) offers Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shifts, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care in a supportive team environment.

The role requires a Michigan RN license (or attainment within 90 days), an associate degree in nursing, and BLS certification. influenza vaccination or declination is required.

Qualifications

• Michigan RN license (or ability to attain within 90 days of hire).
• Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• BLS certification required (available upon hire).
• Annual influenza vaccination or declination required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers care including meds, specimen collection, treatments, and related care.
• Documents patient care accurately.
• Monitors and communicates patient status to care team, physicians, and family.
• Coordinates patient care with other disciplines, including transfers and referrals.
• Educates patient and family based on age, culture, and condition.
• Acts as advocate for patient wellbeing and delegates tasks to qualified staff.
• Performs prior authorizations for tests, procedures, or medications.

How you'll contribute

A Clinic RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, nursing home, patient, and family.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Delegates patient care activities to appropriately qualified staff.
• Performs prior authorizations on tests, procedures, medications, etc. that are required by the patient's insurance.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license (or attain within 90 days of hire) and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required (available upon hire)
• Annual Influenza Vaccination or Declination Required
