Job summary

Atrium Health Navicent is seeking an experienced trauma services leader to coordinate program quality and meet ACS Level 1 standards. You will partner with Trauma Services leadership to oversee performance, safety, and education across the trauma team.

The role requires RN licensure, 5+ years in a Level 1–2 trauma center, and certifications in ACLS/PALS with ENPC or TNCC. Expect 4 days of 10-hour shifts and active involvement in community trauma education and research.

Qualifications

• RN licensed nurse with Board of Nursing approval.
• ACLS and/or PALS certification required; ENPC or TNCC preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in a Level 1–2 trauma center; 2+ years direct trauma patient care.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities with Trauma Services leadership to maintain program quality and consistency.
• Monitor trauma program performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage trauma data in the registry and ensure compliance with ACS guidelines.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary meetings and communications for Level 1 ACS verification.
• Prepare annual PIPS assessments and other required reports.
• Serve as a patient advocate during all phases of care and respond to TTAs when possible.
• Participate in education programs for staff and external partners.
• Support research and QA initiatives within the trauma service.

Ideally 4 10 hour shifts per week with a rotating off day each week. Hours usually 6am-4:30pm but has room for flexibility after discussion with Trauma Services Director

Pay Range

$35.50 - $53.25

Major Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities with the Trauma Services leadership to facilitate overall Trauma Program quality and consistency.
• Monitors and evaluates performance of the trauma program and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Manages trauma performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) data in trauma registry and other locations in accordance with ACS and program guidelines.
• Coordinates multidisciplinary Peer, Systems and other program meetings along with correspondence, meeting attendance and communication to comply with Level 1 ACS verification.
• Prepares annual program PIPS assessment/evaluation and other department, hospital or state reports as requested.
• Monitors activities of the trauma team during all phases of patient care while simultaneously serving as a patient advocate.
• Responds to Trauma Team Activations (TTAs) during normal working hours (as able) on a regular basis, to act as a resource person and liaison for the Emergency Department and pre-hospital care providers.
• Participates in hospital education programs for nurses, med students, residents and other providers caring for trauma patients.
• Participate in the planning and presentation of continuing education programs in the community, outlying hospitals and EMS agencies on trauma topics.
• Maintains knowledge of current trauma standards, Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) benchmarking metrics and ACS COT best practice guidelines.
• Participate in Georgia Quality Improvement Program (GQIP) initiatives.
• Promote and assist with research relevant to trauma care.
• Serves as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for the care of the trauma patient.

  • Develop and maintain a set of quality indicators to monitor trauma care per ACS standards,
  • Develop and maintain a set of trauma care guidelines for care of trauma patients, and
  • Ensure that teammates in all departments caring for trauma patients are knowledgeable about the trauma standards of care.
    

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.

Certification / Registration / License

• Current RN license.
• Current ACLS and/or PALS certification.
• Current ENPC or TNCC certification required.
• Must attend ATS Registry Course, STN TOPIC Course and AAAM AIS Coding Course with 12 months of hire.

Experience

• 5 years of working experience in a Level 1-2 trauma center with a minimum of 2 years’ experience with direct trauma patient care in Level 1-2 trauma center ED or ICU.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, virtual meeting software (Microsoft Teams preferred) and Power Point required.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Requires ability to move about the medical center and ability to attend local, regional and national meetings.
• Must have reliable transportation. Ability to perform effective public speaking required.

Functions as an integral member of the trauma team. Responsibilities include participating in resident team meetings, making rounds in patient care areas, collaborating with Trauma Services leadership, surgical residents, trauma attendings, trauma Advance Practice Providers (APPs) and other clinicians to ensure that trauma patients receive coordinated quality care from the pre-hospital phase through rehabilitation. May assist with data retrieval and collection, data analysis, and presentation of data both internally and externally. Must be comfortable with interpreting the clinical care provided to trauma patients. Will act as a role model for trauma care through educational and clinical activities and coordinate performance improvement activities for the trauma program to maintain the American College of Surgeons Level 1 Accreditation verification.
