RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the RWJUH Somerset Medical-Surgical Unit-I. The role emphasizes safe, high-quality patient-centered care with evidence-based practice and strong clinical judgment.

Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, care coordination with doctors, and family education. Requires NJ RN license and BLS. BSN preferred; ASN acceptable with commitment to BSN within five years.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• BSN or Nursing diploma required; BSN strongly preferred.
• Prior acute care experience preferred.

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers for timely decisions.
• Educate patients and families for understanding and continuity of care.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. ASN or Nursing diploma required. If candidate possesses ASN or Nursing diploma, must agree to complete BSN within five years of hire date. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior acute care experience

This position offers a consistent36 hours per week on Day Shift, every other weekend and holiday requirement
