Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an OR RN for our high‑performing operating room team in Marquette, Michigan. The role features 12‑hour day shifts with varied start times and a 0.9 FTE schedule, plus a $7,500 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

As an OR RN, you will perform plans of care, document care, monitor patient condition, assist with daily living activities, coordinate transfers, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree from accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP).

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support needs.
• Learns and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, and condition.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

More about our team

Our high‑performing Operating Room (OR) team is a collaborative, fast‑paced department. OR nurses work side‑by‑side with surgical teams to deliver safe, high‑quality care, supported by strong communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellent patient outcomes. The OR features 12 procedure rooms and offers 8, 10, and 12‑hour shift options based on unit needs. Call requirements include one night per week and one weekend per month. Weekend and holiday rotations are established and mapped out annually, providing predictability and work‑life balance.

How you'll contribute

An OR RN who excels in this role:

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).
