As a vital bedside leader on 2nd shift, the RN Registered Nurse oversees the following key areas:
Direct Nursing Care & Complex Clinical Administration:
Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to residents in strict accordance with physician orders, care plans, and state nursing standards.
Accurately prepare and administer oral, injectable, IV, and topical medications, as well as complex clinical treatments (wound care, central line care, tracheostomy care, tube feedings).
Perform detailed physical, cognitive, and psychosocial assessments upon resident admission, readmission, or acute status change.
Proactive Health Monitoring & EHR Documentation:
Monitor resident health status continuously during afternoon and evening routines, detecting subtle physical or cognitive status changes.
Document clinical observations, interventions, and treatment outcomes promptly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Report significant status updates immediately to attending physicians, nurse management, and interdisciplinary care team members.
Unit Leadership, Delegation & Compliance:
Supervise and mentor LPNs and CNAs on 2nd shift, delegating direct care tasks, ensuring dining/hygiene schedules are met, and maintaining high standards of dignity.
Transcribe physician orders accurately onto MARs/TARs and coordinate with pharmacy providers for timely medication delivery.
Rigorously enforce compliance with state/federal healthcare guidelines, OSHA standards, HIPAA privacy rules, and facility infection control policies.
Emergency Response & Family Communication:
Lead clinical responses during emergency situations, executing Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols and coordinating emergency medical transport when necessary.
Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for family members during evening visiting hours, addressing concerns with clarity and empathy.
Licensure: Active and unrestricted RN Registered Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin (or multi-state NLC equivalent).
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR Certification required upon hire.
Clinical Capabilities: Strong clinical judgment, diagnostic assessment skills, precise medication administration techniques, and a compassionate, resident‑focused approach.
Tech & Experience: Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., PointClickCare) and long‑term care/skilled nursing experience preferred; however, high‑potential new graduate RN Registered Nurse candidates are warmly encouraged to apply—we provide a robust orientation and preceptor program!
