Join a leading healthcare team as a Rapid Response Nurse at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. This role involves responding to medical emergencies and providing critical care interventions. Ideal candidates possess strong communication skills and critical care experience. Enjoy a collaborative environment with opportunities for career growth and competitive benefits.
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital RRT:
Rapid Response Nurses are part of the medical team who respond to medical emergencies within the hospital. A nurse caring for patients believed to be clinically unstable is encouraged to call a “Rapid Response.” The Rapid Response nurse arrives urgently at the bedside to provide quick assessment and intervention. The Rapid Response Team (RRT) includes an experienced RN, Respiratory Therapist, and Physician.
The RRT Nurse quickly assesses the patient's condition using the Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation (SBAR) framework. Under the direction of the medical team, the RR nurse takes clinical lead from the floor nurse to provide emergent clinical interventions when necessary. The RR nurse plays a crucial role in managing acute patient care and educating the floor nursing team. If needed, the RRT will transport the patient to the ICU for higher-level care. The Rapid Response nurse acts as the “link” between units for safe and expedited transitions of care.
The RRT Nurse must possess strong communication skills, thrive under pressure, and have significant clinical knowledge. Their keen assessment skills help save lives and improve patient outcomes. Our patients benefit from the quick, multidisciplinary, and collaborative approach to care.
The RRT is a team of nurses and advanced practice providers responsible for implementing advanced critical care nursing during acute patient situations outside of the adult ICU. The team uses a coordinated plan to provide emergency care, immediate evaluation, and prompt disposition of patients, aiming to improve outcomes through early intervention during clinical deterioration.
As a Clinical Nurse, you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential problems, analyze trends, and plan appropriate interventions either directly or through other nurses.
