Job summary

MedStar Franklin Square is seeking an Experienced Psychiatric Nurse to join the Psychiatric Crisis Unit. The unit treats both pediatric and adult patients in a 10-bed, busy psychiatric emergency setting within the main ED.

You will provide skilled nursing care, assess patient conditions, and develop care plans. The role offers strong security collaboration, staff support, and pathways for tuition and relocation assistance through MedStar Health.

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• 1+ years of RN experience required; PRN roles prefer 2+ years inpatient psychiatric experience; part-time role prefers 1+ years inpatient psychiatric RN experience.
• Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross).

Psych Crisis Stabilization Unit Highlights

10-bed busy specialized psychiatric emergency unit, located within the main medical ED

Treats pediatric and adult patients

Security has a strong partnership and presence with the unit and Baltimore County officer stationed with the Main ED

Staffed with psychiatric counselors and RNs

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs-from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team

Qualifications
