Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical-Surgical unit 7W. The PRN Day position involves providing direct patient care using the nursing process on a busy unit.

The unit cares for adults with common diagnoses such as cellulitis, pneumonia, UTIs, chest pain, COPD, and other medically stable conditions, offering growth in cardiac rhythm interpretation and acute medical care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with RN license in Missouri (or compact license).
• Previous hospital experience preferred depending on unit.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Position Details

Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg / Medical 7W

Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule: PRN, Day

About The Unit — Medical 7W Medical 7W cares for adult patients with common diagnoses including cellulitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, gastrointestinal issues, COPD exacerbations, and medically stable COVID patients. This unit helps build strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, acute medical care, and fast-paced patient management.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
