Job summary

Mercy is recruiting a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5E at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO. You will provide patient-centered care using the nursing process and collaborate with other departments to ensure safe, effective care for adult medical patients.

The role requires MO RN licensure and BLS, with BSN preferred. The unit handles conditions like small bowel obstructions, pneumonia, cellulitis, and diverticulitis, offering a strong Med Surg skill-building environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma; BSN
• Licensure: Missouri RN license or compact licensure in accordance with state board regulations
• Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred depending on unit
• Certifications: BLS required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire

About The Unit - Med Surg 5E

Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
