Job summary

Mercy is hiring a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 5E in St. Louis, MO. We welcome both new graduates and experienced RNs to apply.

You will provide patient-centered care using the nursing process, coordinate with other departments, and ensure confidentiality and advocacy for patients. The Med Surg 5E unit treats adults with diverse medical conditions and offers a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following.
• Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current RN license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Experience: Hospital experience preferred or required depending on unit.
• Certifications: BLS required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care and maintain accountability.
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
• Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments; maintains patient rights and confidentiality.

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Days | 7:00am - 7:00pm

About The Unit — Med Surg 5E

Med Surg 5E cares for adult medical patients with diagnoses such as small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia. This unit provides an excellent environment to strengthen core Med Surg skills, enhance assessment abilities, and manage patients with diverse medical needs.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing


• Nursing Diploma


• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred


• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred


• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly


• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift


• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
