Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Medical 7W (Med Surg) on a PRN, day schedule. You will apply the nursing process to provide patient care, maintain patient rights and confidentiality, and coordinate with other departments.

The unit handles common diagnoses and offers growth in cardiac rhythm interpretation and fast-paced patient management; BSN preferred, BLS required, Missouri license or compact license; hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following.
• Must hold a current RN license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Preferred: hospital experience depending on the unit.

Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule: PRN, Day

About the Unit — Medical 7W

Medical 7W cares for adult patients with common diagnoses including cellulitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, gastrointestinal issues, COPD exacerbations, and medically stable COVID patients. This unit helps build strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, acute medical care, and fast-paced patient management.

Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
