Job summary

Centerpoint Health - Georgetown is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for PreOp care. This full-time day shift offers 4 ten-hour shifts (7:00 am–4:30 pm) with potential call, and a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for eligible candidates.

The PreOp RN will deliver plan-of-care interventions, medication administration, and patient education in a high-volume surgical unit. We value teamwork, documentation accuracy, and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
• Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and specimen collection.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines including transfers and discharges.
• Provides education tailored to patient age, culture, and condition.

In September 2022, our surgery unit became a National Bariatric & Robotics Training Center for Lifepoint Health, averaging over 600 robotic cases yearly. Most commonly we perform bariatrics, general, urology and GYN procedures. We have 2 Da Vinci robots and are proud to have recently added a team of vascular surgeons, expanding our scope of practice.

How you'll contribute

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and families; provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• BLS ACLS and PALS required
• Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
