Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the postpartum unit on a full-time night shift (3x12 hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.). Relocation assistance is eligible for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school; if ADN, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care units or equivalent.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider required at start; ACLS/PALS or chemo credential within specified times for relevant units.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia as a Registered Nurse (RN) or multi-state RN license.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care in a patient- and family-centered manner.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, interpret data, and identify care priorities.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with the healthcare team and resources.
• Advocate for patients' rights and respect their needs and preferences.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines.
• Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and preceptor to peers and new staff.
• Engage in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities:

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience: Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, for Critical Care units, 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start | For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 Months | For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support- Within 6 Months | For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card- within 3 months of hire
• Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of recent inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) experience on a Postpartum Unit.
