Job summary

Stonington Institute in Connecticut is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse to join the Detox Unit team. The RN will assess clients at admission and as needed, transcribe orders, and administer medications while delivering compassionate, continuous care during treatment.

This role requires weekend and holiday rotation with potential overtime. Employment through UHS offers professional development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing with a current CT RN license.
• Minimum of one year experience in mental health or substance abuse.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Overtime and holdover shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients thoroughly upon admission and as needed.
• Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately.
• Assess clients withdrawing from substances using approved scales.
• Develop appropriate treatment plans and measurable goals.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.

Essential Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as an active part of the treatment team and provides continuous care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to our Detox Unit clients. Daily responsibilities include (not limited to): assess clients thoroughly upon admission and as needed; accurately transcribe and implement physician’s orders; assess clients withdrawing from substances using facility approved assessment scales; develop appropriate and effective treatment plans for all active problems identified in the nursing assessment; set appropriate behavioral, observable, and measurable goals and develop effective interventions to help clients achieve their goals; administer medications and treatments as ordered. This is a per diem position. Must be able to work weekend and holiday rotation. Mandatory holdover and over-time may be required.
