Job summary

UW Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pediatric PCU - Progressive Care Unit in Madison, Wisconsin. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care to pediatric patients, including those requiring technology assistance and complex conditions.

The role includes evening/night shifts, weekends, and a holiday rotation, with a strong emphasis on nursing excellence and compassionate care. A BSN is preferred and CPR/BLS and PALS are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Inpatient Units: six (6) months nursing experience or participation in UW Health Nurse Residency Program with completion of orientation.
  • Relevant RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a holistic plan of care with a multidisciplinary team for the patient and family.
  • Care for children dependent on technology (ventilators, home dialysis, tracheostomies).
  • Care for patients with acute/chronic nephrology diseases, new type 1 diabetes, epilepsy, and scoliosis.

90% FTE, three - 12 hour evening/night shifts including every other weekend and a holiday rotation. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will work at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI.

Pay

Pay:

Additional components of compensation may include:

  • Shift Differentials: $4/hour evening and $5/hour night as applicable for hours worked.
  • Weekend Differential: $4.25/hour as applicable for hours worked.

About the Role
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate a holistic plan of care for the patient and family.
  • Care for children dependent on technology such as home ventilators and home dialysis as well as children dependent on tracheostomies.
  • You will also care for patients with acute and chronic nephrology diseases, new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, epilepsy and idiopathic/non-idiopathic scoliosis.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Work Experience

  • Inpatient Units: Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • Relevant RN experience Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • PALS within 12 months Required
  • Relevant certification Preferred
