Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU - Stepdown - Cincinnati Market Float Pool

*** RNs could receive a sign-on bonus up to $15,000 with 1 year prior experience in specialty. ***

1 year prior experience in specialty needed for position.

Unit: PCU

Shift: Nights - 7pm-7:30am

Locations: The position will float to all of our acute hospital locations in the Cincinnati Market, including:

• Mercy Health - Anderson Hospital
• Mercy Health - Clermont Hospital
• Mercy Health - Fairfield Hospital
• Mercy Health - Kings Mills Hospital
• Mercy Health - West Hospital
• The Jewish Hospital - Mercy Health

Job Summary:

The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care following established standards. The primary function is to be available and flexible to float across various departments and sites within the organization to provide patient care, including scheduling, multiple assignment locations within a shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns. Participates as a team member under the guidance of a clinical manager, adhering to the Standards and Scope of Practice for the RN.

Essential Job Functions:

• Float expectations vary by tier:
• Tier 1: Float within a single site based on competency.
• Tier 2: Float within multiple sites within a single market based on competency.
• Tier 3: Float across multiple sites and markets based on competency.

Supports organizational goals through quality improvement and departmental activities. Acts as a patient safety advocate and incorporates professional practice models into care delivery. Plans, coordinates, and implements nursing care using best evidence, including interventions and response evaluations.

Licensing/Certification:

• Current nursing license in the designated state of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required by specialty.

Education:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (required).
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Work Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience as an RN in acute care (required).

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical equipment.
• Proficient in clinical skills and professional nursing principles.
• Ability to perform assessments, use computerized tools, and coordinate care.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility, resilience, and ability to adapt to change.

Training:

EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred).
