Job Overview

This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members, assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes and supporting the company's philosophy of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and other groups.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources and act as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embrace concepts that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and the profession of nursing.
• Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy, introducing themselves, explaining services, and obtaining permissions.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Work Experience: At least one year RN experience or a minimum of five years LPN experience; ICU and ED experience appreciated.
• Certifications: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS required or to be obtained; PALS required or to be obtained; preferred certification in clinical specialty area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Proficiency in using computers (EPIC), software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Work may be rated Light, Light/Heavy, or Heavy depending on requirements. The job requires exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and potential communicable diseases. Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste is present due to preparation, transport, storage, dispensing, and disposal of contaminated waste.
