Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a surgical nurse to support patients before, during, and after surgery. You bridge the patient, surgeon, and anesthesia team to ensure high-quality care in the operating room.

You will prepare patients, monitor vitals, document care, and educate families. Must hold a Louisiana nursing license and BLS; operating room experience is preferred. This role emphasizes teamwork and patient safety in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active nursing license to practice in Louisiana.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery, review history, provide patient care and support, including supplies, medication administration, patient positioning, monitoring vital signs, and health assessments.
• Complete required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
• Monitor patients after surgery for pain, complications, or infection at the surgical site in alignment with infection control and safety requirements.
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
• Collaborate to identify and meet overall patient care needs or to address delays or safety concerns in care delivery.
• Maintain a safe environment and advocate for patient and staff safety.
• Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, and exceptional patient experience.
• Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operative care as required.
