Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the West Jefferson Medical Center perioperative team. You will provide care before and after surgery, review histories, prepare patients for home recovery, and document clinical data.

Responsibilities include monitoring post-op patients for pain and complications, educating families, and ensuring safe, efficient care consistent with Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
  • RN with at least 2 years of flexible experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care before and after surgery, review patient history, set up IVs and monitor vital signs.
  • Educate patients and families on home care after discharge.
  • Complete required clinical documentation and pre-/post-operative assessments.
  • Monitor patients post-surgery for pain, complications, or infection; follow infection control guidelines.

Challenging yourself to leave a positive impact during your patient’s short Same Day Surgery journey, you embrace your role as a caregiver and teacher preparing and educating your patient for home recovery. Your Everyday Provide patient care before and after surgery, review patient history, set-up IVs, and monitor vital signs. Educate and prepare patients and their families on home care after discharge. Perform required clinical documentation and pre- and post-operative assessments. Monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements. Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required. Collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely. Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone. Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient. Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care as required.

Must-Haves Minimum:
  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
  • 2 years RN flex experience.
