Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking an experienced registered nurse to support perioperative and post-operative patient care in Louisiana.

The role involves preparing patients for surgery, monitoring vitals, administering medications, and ensuring safety and quality of care. OR experience is preferred, and BLS certification is required, with a commitment to patient education and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for surgery and review history.
• Provide patient care and administer medicines.
• Monitor vital signs and perform post-operative assessments.
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
• Collaborate to meet patient care needs and safety requirements.
• Maintain a safe environment for all.

Your Everyday

• Prepare your patient for surgery, review patient history, and provide patient care and support including supplies needed, medicine administration, patient positioning, vital signs monitoring, and health assessments.
• Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
• Monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
• Collaborate to identify and meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
• Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
• Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
• Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operation care as required.

The Must-Haves

Minimum

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Preferred

• Operating room experience.
