Participate in the nursing process by assisting a registered nurse or physician. The LPN may assist in monitoring, observing, and reporting reactions to interventions, but must refrain from activities requiring the knowledge and skill level of a registered nurse. Engaged in a limited scope of intravenous therapy under supervision, including adding non-medicated IV solutions, regulating IV solution rates, and managing maintenance doses with a pump; may discontinue IV therapy as allowed by Iowa Code.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Registered Nurse license in Iowa; CPR certification required within 3 months of hire date.
