Job summary

Sioux Center Health is seeking an Employee Health RN to provide nursing services, education and guidance for staff on pre-employment and ongoing basis. The role supports risk reduction through health surveillance, exams, immunizations, TB testing and documentation within the Employee Health Office.

The ideal candidate will be an Iowa-licensed RN with CPR certification, at least three years of general nursing experience, and a commitment to a Christian culture of care.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Must have minimum of 3 years of general nursing practice.
  • Current licensure as an RN in the state of Iowa required. CPR certification within 3 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive Employee Health Program records and activities.
  • Plan, organize and implement activities of the Employee Health Office.
  • Provide first aid or liaise with physicians for care of employees who are ill or injured on duty.
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases and coordinate with providers and carriers.
  • Develop individualized health education opportunities on safety, CPR, and wellness.
  • Follow medical directives and perform other duties as assigned.

Summary
  • The Employee Health RN provides nursing service, education and guidance for Sioux Center Health employees on a pre-employment and as needed basis. This position assists in identifying, evaluating and reducing risk of Sioux Center Health’s patient, visitor, and employee injury through maintenance and improvement of facilities and equipment. This position may also assist Sioux Center Health employees who become ill or injured at work.

  • Monday-Friday; call involvement
Education and/or Experience
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Must have minimum of 3 years of general nursing practice.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current licensure as an RN in the state of Iowa required. Must have CPR certification within 3 months of hire date. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must carry their own automobile liability insurance.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible to assist in maintaining a comprehensive Employee Health Program that includes elements such as the following: Health History, Post Offer Physical Exams, Immunization records, necessary titer records, TB testing, other regulatory required testing.
  • Completes pre-employment screening and a brief health and safety orientation, drug and alcohol testing, and/or vaccinations as requested by company.
  • Responsible to plan, organize and implement activities of the Employee Health Office. Design forms for use in Employee Health Office. Maintain required records, reports, and statistics for Human Resources Department, Employee Health Department and Administration.
  • Provides knowledge for safety issues and education within each industry and stays current in occupational health nursing issues.
  • Manages employee health as directed by each industry and maintains accurate records.
  • Manages workers’ compensation cases. Makes necessary contacts, appointments, follow ups, etc. with the contracted companies, employees, physicians, hospital, and compensation carriers.
  • Provide first aid or act as a liaison with physicians for provision of care for employees who become ill or are injured while on duty. Initiate and complete all required documentation and provide follow-up on employees treated.
  • Actively sets up individualized educational opportunities regarding health issues, safety issues, first responders, CPR, respiratory, hearing, etc.
  • Follows medical directives as outlined in the policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
