Job description

Job Description: Registered Nurse

As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, their families, visitors, and colleagues. RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and the provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. They utilize delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Completing age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting them, and developing a care plan.
2. Collaborating with the healthcare team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary care plan, revising it as patient conditions change.
3. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimal outcomes for patients of all ages, as appropriate to the service area.
4. Administering treatments and medications accurately, documenting them using electronic medical records and automated computer systems.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible for licensure. CPR certification is required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications as needed.

Other Requirements: Proficiency in electronic medical records (EPIC), completion of orientation and competency assessments, and ability to meet essential job functions.
