Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role offers an attractive sign-on bonus for new grads and experienced RNs with a two-year commitment.

The position features 8–10 hour shifts (Mon-Thurs or Fri) in a high-volume operating room setting with a broad range of specialties. Licensure, BLS, ACLS/PALS, and a dedication to compassionate patient care are essential.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or Compact state required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify care needs.
• Initiate and document nursing interventions based on patient condition.
• Deliver care appropriate to the patient’s age and clinical status.
• Document medical necessity accurately in the patient record.
• Develop and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Complete timely quality improvement assessments.

The operating room is equipped with six beds and handles an average of 400 cases per month. The scope of procedures includes a diverse range of specialties: Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Cataract, Urology, Gynecologic, Laparoscopic and Endoscopic, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Plastic and Reconstructive, and Gastroenterological surgeries. The majority of cases are general and orthopedic. Surgical operations are conducted Monday through Friday, with additional night, weekend, and holiday call rotations to ensure continuous coverage.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
