Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital's Observation Unit 2N seeks an experienced RN to join the night shift. The fast-paced 24–48 hour observation unit provides care for short-stay patients, with stroke-focused services and potential to discharge within 24 hours.

The RN will perform nursing care using the nursing process, collaborate with the physician team, and support discharge planning and patient education. ADN is required; BSN preferred; Virginia license and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• RN experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience in a Med/Surg, Stepdown, IMCU.
• ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.
• Virginia or compact multistate RN license; BLS within 90 days.

Responsibilities

Unit Description:

The Observation unit is a fast paced 6-8 bed unit, with potential to expand, caring for patients under 24–48-hour observation. The patient population typically includes short stay treatments, including TIA workups, stress tests, and radiology procedures. The goal is to prepare the patients for discharge within 24 hours or less, or work with the physician team to upgrade the patient's status. Sentara Virginia Beach General is recognized as a stroke center and holds magnet designation for excellence in patient care. We are seeking experienced candidates to join this team-oriented unit!

Job Description:

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

Education:

• ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.

Certification:

• Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing

• BLS within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• RN experience in a hospital setting.

• Experience in a Med/Surg, Stepdown, IMCU

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
