Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at RWJBarnabas Health will collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. This role is part of RWJBarnabas Health, a system dedicated to teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement, offering growth and a supportive environment.

The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, partner with physicians, educate patients and families, document in EPIC, and participate in rounds.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
• ASN or Nursing Diploma required; BSN strongly preferred.
• 1 year of acute care experience or float duties.
• Proficient with EMR systems (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Administer medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Serve as clinical partner to physicians and providers for coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families for informed care transitions.
• Accurate documentation in the EMR to ensure continuity and safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and team communication.
• Engage in continuous professional growth and clinical ladder opportunities.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients


• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment


• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions


• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care


• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety


• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification, ACLS and PALS. ASN or Nursing diploma required. If candidate possesses ASN or Nursing diploma, must agree to complete BSN within five years of hire date. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC.1 year of acute care experience.Experience in any of the following areas for float responsibilities: Critical Care/IMCU/Rapid Response Team RN.

This position offers a consistent36 hours per week on nightshift with required rotating weekendsas well as rotating holidays, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
