Job summary

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for night shifts in Panama City, FL. This full-time role offers a 36-hour weekly schedule, full benefits, and a $2,500 sign-on bonus for new employees.

We provide inpatient and outpatient mental health services with a supportive team, ongoing education, and career advancement opportunities, including leadership pathways and nurse education groups.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Current FL RN License or compact license.
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts - 3 days per week to include weekends.

Responsibilities

• Conducts complete nursing assessment of admissions, including risk assessments, educational needs, and medication review.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, collect data, update care plans, document responses.
• Document nursing care and treatment progression with timely chart entries and updates.
• Monitor patients through detox and CIWA/COWS assessments.
• Oversee physician orders, labs, EKGs, and x-rays as prescribed.
• Provide leadership and supervision to staff; conduct rounds and ensure safety.
• Float to other units as assigned and mentor new staff.

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our four outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

Job Duties:

• Conducts complete nursing assessment of all admissions including risk assessments (SAO, elopement, assault, suicide); educational needs, and medication review. Complete all required nursing documents within established time frame.
• Actively participate in treatment team meetings & decisions, collect & include data in care plan updates, assess patient needs, design and implement programs, and document / evaluate patient responses.
• Document nursing care and treatment progression through timely & accurate chart entries & nursing treatment plan updates. Complete treatment plans as per policy. Appropriately notify Physician of changes in condition and other patient issues, as per policy.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and the milieu. Appropriately monitor patients through detox, including CIWA and COWS assessments.
• Provide oversight of completion of physician orders, including labs, EKG's and x-rays.
• Ensure that medication & treatment are administered as prescribed and that documentation reflects the care provided. Complete medication consents from patient or guardian, as per policy.
• Provide and oversee leadership, supervision, and direction to Mental Health Technicians and LPNs. Provide oversight of q15 observations as evidenced by signatures on q15 observation rounding's. Conduct rounds.
• Provide and direct milieu management. Actively assist nurses and MHT's, keeping safety foremost.
• May need to assist patients with personal hygiene and ADL's as needed. May provide q15 observation round coverage at times.
• Assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations. Recognize escalations and take preventive steps to reduce incidence of restraint and seclusion.
• Provide and document patient and family education. Leads nurse education groups and completes documentation.
• Initiate and account for Special Treatment Procedures.
• Provides a thorough and accurate report to the oncoming shift and completes an appropriate hand-off of the patients and q15 observation forms.
• Manage and order unit supplies for patient activities and non-group time that support a positive therapeutic environment.
• Complete chart checks as assigned.
• Float to other units as assigned.
• Serve as a mentor and trainer to new employees.
• May be assigned to perform Mental Health Technician (MHT) and/or 1:1 duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
