Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 6B Medical Unit in Newark, DE. The RN will work three 12-hour night shifts weekly with a 20% shift differential. External candidates are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus. The unit cares for adults 18+ with acute and chronic medical conditions.

Required are a Delaware RN license or compact state license, BLS, and at least three years of med/surg experience; BSN preferred or committed to obtaining BSN within 3 years.

Qualifications

• RN license in Delaware or a Compact State.
• BSN preferred or committed to acquiring BSN within 3 years of hire.
• At least three years of med/surg experience in a hospital setting.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on 6B Medical Unit for three 12-hour night shifts per week.
• Practice relationship-based care and coordinate with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Adhere to department guidelines including shift differential and weekend/holiday coverage.

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 6B Medical Unit. The selected candidate will work three 12-hour shifts each week.

Unit

6B is an inpatient unit designed to accommodate 40 patients who need acute and/or chronic medical services. The scope of services on 6B encompasses a variety of diagnoses/testing, including, but not limited to, pneumonia, syncope, diabetes management, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and altered mental status.

The patient population cared for in this area includes adults aged 18 years and above. The condition of patients cared for on the unit ranges from good to fair. Patients are received/transferred/admitted from the emergency department, ICU, step-down unit, home, and doctors’ offices.

Staffing

RNs have 5-6 patients. The charge nurse is responsible for daily assignments, considering each patient’s diagnosis, condition, acuity, age, developmental level, and the qualifications of the staff.

Education & Experience

• RN License in Delaware or a Compact State
• BSN preferredor committed to acquiring BSN within 3 years of the hire date.
• At least three years of med/surg experience in a hospital setting is required.
• BLS required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hourly Pay Range: $42.11 - $67.37

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
