Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 12.5-hour night shift at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. The Labor & Delivery unit offers a collaborative, safety-focused environment with opportunities for growth and professional advancement.

Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, safe medication administration, collaboration with physicians, patient and family education, accurate documentation in EPIC, and active participation in rounds and care

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• ACLS and NRP certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers for coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families to support informed care decisions.
• Document accurately in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.

Typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands‑on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well‑coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing, and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. A bachelor’s degree in nursing, ACLS and NRP certifications, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a full‑time schedule on the night shift and 12.5‑hour shifts at 37.5 weekly hours. Biweekly weekends are required, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
