Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Tennessee seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to provide direct patient care, perform medical treatments, and document patient conditions. This PRN role requires an Associate's degree, critical thinking skills, and various nursing certifications. The position is night shift with two 12-hour shifts weekly and one weekend per month. Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or a Compact State.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition.
• Assists patients with daily living activities.
• Collaborates across disciplines for patient care coordination.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family.

How You'll Contribute

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Associate's degree required.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire, AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
• Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.

Highpoint Health - Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157‑bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10‑bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12‑bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and a 12‑bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit. The facility also features a Skilled Nursing Unit, Sleep Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, five Operating Rooms, and two Endoscopy Suites.
