Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a House Supervisor RN on a PRN basis. The role involves leading clinical operations, ensuring staffing, and coordinating patient care across departments. A Tennessee RN license and an associate degree are required, with BSN preferred.

Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS are needed within specified timeframes. This position offers weekend shifts and a 6-6 schedule.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact).
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• BLS within 30 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months; PALS within 6 months.
• Licensed RN in Tennessee or Compact TN with proper paperwork filed within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Performs plan of care interventions including meds and procedures.
• Documents patient care.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines and with transfer/discharge needs.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education relevant to age and culture.
• Advocates for patient physical and emotional well-being.

House supervisor plays a key role in clinical operations and efficient nursing workflow. These individuals work directly with every nursing department to ensure adequate staffing, appropriate bed assignments, and quality patient care. House supervisor is an excellent leadership opportunity for an experienced bedside nurse.

How You'll Contribute

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire. Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
• Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.

Highpoint Health - Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157-bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and a 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit.
